Nearly 6,000 people around the world, mainly children, die every day because they don't have access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene education. This statistic is what Water For People is trying to change and you can be involved in helping the effort by participating in this year's 5K fundraiser.
On September 18th, 2010 the Groundwater Consortium hosted the first annual 5k Race for Global Water in Ohio to benefit the non-profit organization Water For People. The past two years, with over 355 runners and walkers, 50 volunteers and the support of various donors and sponsors, we were able to donate $13,000 directly to the charity. This donation helped fund the mission of installing sustainable water systems and sanitation facilities in developing countries; helping to save thousands of lives every year. The event serves as an excellent educational opportunity for the community with numerous hands-on exhibits and activities for children including games, face painting, and a free Kids Fun Run.
