Nearly 6,000 people around the world, mainly children, die every day because they don't have access to clean water, sanitation and hygiene education. This statistic is what Water For People is trying to change and you can be involved in helping the effort by participating in this year's 5K fundraiser.
On September 18th, 2010 the Groundwater Consortium hosted the inaugural 5K Race for Global Water in Ohio to benefit the non-profit organization Water For People. Over the past four years, with over 735 runners and walkers, 100 volunteers and the support of various donors and sponsors, this event has raised over $25,000. These donations have helped fund the missions of installing sustainable water systems and sanitation facilities in developing countries, thereby saving thousands of lives. This event serves as an excellent educational opportunity for the community with hands-on exhibits and activites for children including games, face-painting, and a free Kids Fun Run with awards.
